Turn Off to Conserve the Trough

Updated: Jun 22, 2021

Water is the essence to our existence, so lets do our part to conserve water in the trough by turning off.

As many of you know water is the top priority when it comes to off the grid living and takes a little more effort than a simple turn of the kitchen faucet. Most of us remember last years issue with limited water availability. If you missed the 2021 water board meeting then you may not know what happened... let me fill you in on what happened and how to prevent it.

The Why

  • Water was left on at the street valve and one cabin developed a leak, which over time drained the Wilderness Heights Water Company water tank. In addition the water pump seized and could not pump water to replace the lost water.

The Prevention

  • Due to intermittent use of the cabins we are asking you to turn OFF your valve at the street upon departure. This will deflect any unforeseen leaks that may occur. All of our cabins should have a certified leak proof system, however unforeseen events happen such as bursting pipes, toilets running, faucet drips, etc.

  • Wilderness Heights Water Company replaced the water pump and updated the solar, which is backed by the existing generator.

We understand this may be a tasking duty, but hope you understand how important conserving our water is. If we each do our part then we can enjoy the liquid gold with EVERY visit and will enjoy every shower after a hard day of playing.
